Subrahmanyam renders many pallavis in Kanada -- one such line is Krishna Mukunda Giridhari Hare Prabho Post Palavi ragamalika svarams: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Invariably features Kanada as a preferred Ragam. Karnatak raga Kannada has no resemblence to kAnaDA whatsoever. Kannada is a janya of 29the mela Sankarabharanam. ====================================================== In Hindustahni Paddhathi, "kAnaDa" refers to a family of rAgAs of which darbari Kanada is getting exceedingly popular in Karnatik music. Darbari kAnandA is called the King of Ragas - raga of the Kings. It uses the komal (= shuddha) dhaivatam. This rAgA has been imported to carnatic and is popular. Huseni kAnadA or sahAnA of the north resembles the carnatic rAgA kAnadA. Darbari Kanada, Nayaki Kanada, Abhogi Kanada, Sahana Kanada, Huseni Kanada, and so forth. nAyaki kAnadA of the north is a kAnadA devoid of Dha.
